Walkin’in a winter wonderland!

Seriously, the snow can quit any time now: two major snow storms in about 8 days, and as of this writing we may be getting a third. This should be enough snow to make the skiers among us happy. I hope this holds them till spring!

Well, the weather last weekend forced us to cancel the Lessons & Carols Christmas Concert last Sunday. It was a great disappointment. We were all looking forward to all of the music and readings with so many people involved. All of the music that was to be done last weekend will still be done at the masses around Christmas. We will just have to appreciate their talent then even more. With the craziness of everyone’s schedules there is no possibility of rescheduling.

Last Sunday was a very difficult day for Ken Danchik. The uncertainty of the weather and the struggle of if and when to cancel the concert were difficult to make. But add to that the rest of the story, Ken’s car could not make it up Glass Run for the 9AM mass because of the road conditions so he parked it at the Shop ‘n Save, walked through St. Josaphat Cemetery and up Schieck St. where he finally got a lift. And the story continues. After the stress of the entire morning, he gets in his van, pulls out of the parking lot and gets a flat tire - what a hat trick! A lot of kind people and parishioners did stop to offer assistance. He did finally make it home to the warmth of his family. What’s the saying about “Neither rain nor snow nor …?”

These next few weeks will be extremely hectic for all of us. Let us not forget to MAKE TIME to pray because nothing during this season happens without effort. Perhaps while we are wrapping or cooking or shopping we could pray for those who will be receiving those particular gifts.
